‘Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep, having the same feelings towards one another. ‘ These are the simple but weighty words by which the Apostle Paul characterized the practical life of true believers. Romans 12: 15-16
Living for others and sacrificing yourself for most has become a difficult goal to understand and especially to put into practice for the contemporary generation whose methods of thinking we each feel, even in the depths of the spirit.
But by carefully analyzing this mysterious phenomenon of identification with the other, we realize that ’empathy’ as it is called in science is nothing but the foundation on which the Lord Jesus built his entire teaching.
In fact, one of the most beautiful ‘social mechanisms’ that God has given to man is the art of being ’empathetic’, or simply to identify emotionally with the feelings, emotions and feelings of our fellow men.
‘I give you a new commandment,’ He told us, ‘Love one another; as I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. ”
By meditating carefully on these words, we realize why being empathetic is not only a beautiful component of the elevated human mentality, but in fact, empathy is one of the expressions of God’s character permeated in the human being from the beginning, when we were created after the image and likeness (character) of our Creator.
To manifest ourselves empathetically and responsibly towards each other is therefore not only a requirement addressed to the authentic Christian, but also a way of self-assessment of life lived in accordance with the values of the Godhead.
Surprisingly or not, empathy is one of the indicators that will show you clearly, whether or not you are part of the body of Christ, in His Church, and also if you fit the standard he wants from His children.
So learn to practice today with all your warmth, empathy for your peers.
Be blessed!
